Did God Really Say?

I first shared these words in October 2021 but they ring true today. And you know what? I still try to guard our Sunday’s so this conviction for our family hasn’t changed! I hope these words encourage you and bring you some hope with a busy season ahead.

We’re taking a field trip and break day. We’re taking a day to rest because we haven’t been. We’re taking a day for Mama to catch her breath and the kids to relax too. We’re taking a day to stop racing and enjoy.

I recently shared on Instagram how we haven’t been guarding our Sunday’s well. There have been seasons where I’ve declared, “we won’t even go to birthday parties on Sunday’s!” and then this Fall we signed two of the kids up for a sport that happens on Sunday’s and I shall shout it from the mountain tops- never again!

Sports on Sunday’s aren’t a sin. It’s not a salvation issue. For us, it’s a Sabbath issue. It’s the reality that right now our family isn’t resting and we need to. It’s me realizing that in saying yes to something I told myself, “this won’t be a big deal…” but guess what? It has been.

Often times the decisions that aren’t the best come out of a place of , “did God really say?” Here’s what I mean by that. In the Bible the serpent says to Eve, “did God really say not to eat from this tree?” And so it began. Did God really say, “remember the sabbath day and keep it Holy?” He did.

In the morning I try to anchor my day with His word. Jesus’ words in John 14:27 say, “I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Do you need to read that again?

John 14:27, “I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Can we all enjoy that? Can we declare that today over our situations? Can we claim it and know that God wants peace for us? He’s given it to us as a gift.

So, today I’ll preach his word to myself. I’ll play songs and we’ll open the Bible and let truth soak in.

We’ll enjoy His creation and His peace in a world that so desperately needs it. You can have peace of mind and heart today. You can learn, pray, repent, and be thankful for his grace and mercy. Amen? Amen!
